    Corrupted playback of DivX file...

I've just downloaded a divx file and tested playback... the beginning and ending portion was perfect but when I dragged the slider to the middle of the file in any player, there will be blurry square patches that distorts the video and it's semitransparent with colours of blue and green and at times, distorts the subtitles as well. This is the first time i've encountered such a problem and I was wondering whether there are any software available to fix it.

I'm using WinXP and DivX 5.0.2 codec. I shouldn't suspect it's a codec problem because it's obvious that the file itself is already corrupted and I really need a remedy. Thanx.

Hi... I'm having the same problem, but not with one, but many files, the worst of it is that I reinstalled everything (windows included) from zero, and the problem persists... artifacts while playing some divx files, some other looks good with no known reason...

Try using DivFix on the video file. But if you are not having trouble with freeze frames, I doubt the software can help you there. The video is permanently damaged and the only things you can do is either download another working one or accept it.
