    Compressing audio to specific sizes?

Are there any audio-encoding utilities which can output to a specific file-size? There appear to be plenty of apps which will do audio+video (i.e., a movie) to certain sizes (e.g., 700mb), but one for audio specifically is proving elusive.

Those "which will do audio+video (i.e., a movie) to certain sizes (e.g., 700mb)" will also have the option of specifying the bitrate for audio(e.g. 128 kbps). So,if you want a certain size of audio, divide the size by length(of time) to get the target bitrate.

I'm aware of several apps that'll let me save mp3 at various "steps" (like 96, 112, 128kbps, etc), but I need one that permits finer steps inbetween.

I have a 700mb film rip with crummy original-source audio, and an alternate high-quality audio source that I'd like to use instead, but which will require some compression. After yanking out the bad audio, there's enough space left for approx 104kbps CBR or a little more VBR, to round out the 700mb. Using 112kbps yields slightly too large a total file.

OK. What happens to file size with 112 or 128 kbps VBR ?

The resultant files, when merged with the video, are greater than 700mb.

Why do you want it at exactly 700 MB ?
Use Belight(frontend GUI for Besweet) to encode at specific bitrates.

You can burn files larger than 700MB btw... I've burned up to 703. So no need to freak out over a 702MB file, for example, but if it's like 705 or more that would be a reason to worry
