Mini-DV to DVD for audio transcription

My client is a filmmaker and uses a mini-DV camcorder to do interviews. What do I need to convert the mini-DV tape to a DVD to transcribe the interview with my PC? The filmmaker would like the transcription time-coded also so what do I need to do that. I am new to this digital technology....HELP

You need to import the video from cam to PC via a Firewire port and cable. The video imported will be DV-AVI. Now convert this to DVD. There are umpteen ways and programs to do this. Try DVDFlick. The DV-AVI does not display the timestamp although it is embedded in it. To extract the timecode you will need DVdate.
