    Having the same problem

I've owned my DC40 for more than 2 years and every time I try to open my DVD files for editing, I run into a wall and give up. I've finalized my disc and depending on the video mode I select when I initialize the disc, I end up with VOB or VRO files. Neither of these is automatically recognized by my Dell (running Windows XP) and I cannot open with the video editing software I purchased (Pinnacle Studio Plus 11). I read one tutorial that recommended renaming the files with a ".mpg" suffix, but this did not work for me.

Does anyone else have any recommendations?

DC40 is a DVD camcorder and uses Mini DVDs as recording media. You have to finalise the discs(there must be an option in the camera). Then just put the disc in your PC/laptop DVD drive and copy the files into the computer. Then edit them with whatever editing software you like(e.g.Ulead Video Studio).

    hello peter,

i'm sorry for moving your topic once again OUT of the digital photography forum but from what you mention, the canon dc 40 seems to be a cam for moving pics and not a dslr or other digital camera for stills.

    back on topic:

can you please tell us WHAT you are able to do with WHATEVER software you have at hand?

You are, indeed, posting in the wrong section. You are highjacking Jaco2k's thread, while you should be posting in the Digital Photography subforum. Check it out, you'll find plenty of help there.

    Later.

    Problem with Canon DC40 Software

Hello there folks, please excuse my ignorance if I am posting in the wrong area however I am brand new to the forum.
I've recently returned to Australia after a 6 month visit to the UK and whilst there purchased a Canon DC40 - It seems an OK camera toi my non-discerning eye however I have found a major problem in getting the included software package to work in harmony with my laptop as it doesn't seem compatible with whatever video setup my Dell Latitude uses?
If this sounds somewhat vague - then well spotted as I have very little idea just to what I should be doing to achieve some kind of result regards moving or editing the files on my mini dvds to DVD.
Is anyone here familiar with the problem and like wise can someone please advise me a little...
    Cheers Peter Melbourne Australia
