    Problems using DivX5

I can play DivX4 movies on my Win98, but can't do with DivX5 movies despite I have installed the DivX 5.0.2 Bundle. My Media Player says 'Class not registered (Error=80040154)' and doesn't play anything.

What's wrong? How can I play DivX5 either?

Try using the divx player that comes with the codec.

I installed the newest DivX 5.0.2 Pro bundle, and now I can play some DivX5 movies even with Windows Media Player.

Some other movies can't be played this way, unfortunately.
Is there any tool that verifies the movie file format? Windows Commander says when I press ALT+ENTER on a 'wrong' Divx5 movie, that its format is: 480x260, 24 bit, 88530 frames, 24.006 fps, 45 KB/s, DivX codec

So the header looks correct but then what can be the problem? Is there any CRC or other error detecting codes an the AVI/DivX files?

Try loading the file into virtualdub, if the file is currupt (like from an incomplete download) virtualdub will rebuild the index, which should help. If this doesn't help try checking the file Information menu in vrtualdub, and post what it says.
