    Another ac3 problem...

I downloaded quite a few Angel & Buffy episodes, which are encoded in ac3.
Since there is only 1 (to which i am aware of) ac3 playback decoder, which doesn't involve converting and stuff, and i have windows xp, ihave a major problem, cause the sound just doesn't work!
When i install the codec everything is in slow motion, and when i try installing an older WMP version, so the file would work (it works on windows 98 and windows versions with WMP 6.4) dear old windows informs me that it just can't be done.
    Someone, PLEASE:
If u know how to fix the slow motion, of know of a better codec that works with winXP, or if u know how i can install an older WMP version on the XP, PLEASE HELP!!!

      It works... but why?

Thanks for the "mplayer2.exe" tip. My movies play at full speed, but what made this work? Any ways to get poor old WMP8 to wake up and stop playing in slow motion?

      Thanks for your help!

Why care so much for the lousy and bloated WMP8? It does not allow you to change codec settings and it does not look like M$ is going to change it anytime soon.
