    1 Fail out of 100's

    All,
I've had my first failure out of many, many successful burns. The movie in question plays as normal on my PC w/WinDVD and shows no protection when ripping w/Shrink or DVDDecrypt.. But, when i attempt to play the copy in my standalone it causes severe trama.. The disc loads and the player recognizes as a DVD. Once it starts, the screen has lines part way across the screen and the screen begins to scroll violently.. Even the native on screen player commands (play, pause, stop) and the brand screen saver (Pioneer) scroll.
I;ve burned even the most difficult movies (Resident Evil) with success.. This is my first fail.. I;ve tried everything i can think of..
Any ideas on what's causing this insanity?

much thanks to all the pro's!

Welcome to the Digital Video Forums of Digital Digest!

"when i attempt to play the copy in my standalone it causes severe trama.."

    1) What happens when you play the ORIGINAL, commercial DVD on your standalone DVD player?

    2) What is the title an d Region code of the DVD?

    3) Have you tried playing your copy on a different standalone DVD player?

"The movie in question plays as normal on my PC w/WinDVD and shows no protection when ripping w/Shrink or DVDDecrypt.."

Are you referring to the ORIGINAL, commercial DVD, the copy you've made, or the DVD "package" on your hard drive?

      welcome to the forum

it could be a simple case of a dud-blank or a simple pc glitch. 1 out of 100 burns ain't bad

as stated above 1 out of a 100 ain't bad.
sounds to me like the wrong region for your setup. open one of the main vob's in Gspot or Avicodec and see what the resolution/video fps is/are

          Thanks for the reply's..

Not sure what the formal title is, but it's a kickboxing/ultimate fighting style video.. I ripped to a folder on my laptop at a friends.. the source disc was a copy also. but, played fine on his standalone..
I checked the fps as recommended and it came up "n.a.".. Can someone interprate what this suggests?

When i check my copy in DVDDecrypt it shows regions "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8".. Guessing this means region free or multiple regions..

I;ve ruled bad media and found that the copy i made plays on the same standalone as the source disk..

Is this a region code issue? and, if so, is there any way to get around the problem or recode to play as region free or region 1?
