dvd backup on video file to burn on nero

Hi have ripped to dvd video file and added the files to the nero express then when it goes to the ready to burn menu, the burn button is not highlighted so i can press burn? another confused newbie! or is there a way to burn using shrink after the copy is already ripped to the video files, i have had a look and only option i can find is to backup files i have, back into files folder. cannot backup to blank disc from the files already ripped, if that makes sense?

Welcome to the Digital Digest Video forum candyfat!

Do you have Nero Burning ROM? If so, follow this guide/tutorial I made: http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...453#post221453

    I've never used Nero Express.

I just opened up my Nero Express and did it fine.

Open up Nero Express. On the main menu select "DVD-Video Files". On the next screen, click the "Add" button and select the files you want to burn to a disc, click "Add", then click "Finished", then click the "Next" button. Make sure where it says "Current Recorder", it has your DVD burner/writer drive there. Pick the burn speed then click the "Burn" button.

yeh didnt help any. reason i got into this predicament was i ripped the dvd and my screen went to sleep, then could not get my screen back so i couldnt follow thru the process with shrink. apart from ripping it again and making sure my screen doesnt sleep permanently again i cant see how else i can fix this problem. takes me three hrs to rip and hav already done this twice so not too keen on going a third round. frustration setting in!!!! had to restart comp to get screen back and now cant do it via nero. hmmmmm.....

Sounds as if you got your "Monitor" to shut itself off after a certain time frame. OR Your monitor is over heating. Mine used to do the same thing until I put a fan behind it.

If it takes you that long to rip, check your DMA - Check your DMA settings - How ? do this -> Go to Control Panel> System> Hardware Tab> Device Manager> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers> Right Click Primary IDE channel (and Secondary IDE channel after you finish with Primary)> Properties> Advanced Settings Tab> Transfer Mode or click here to learn.

Do the above from both "Primary & Secondary IDE channels".

I (We) and you need to look at whats in both "Transfer Mode" and "Current Transfer Mode". Screen shot below is what I'm talking about.

You can also look here for some other solutions: http://sniptools.com/vault/getting-b...windows-xp.htm

If it is in "PIO" mode. Click the "Driver" tab, and uninstall the driver. Then reboot. Upon rebooting windows will automatically reinstall the driver and it should go back to "DMA" mode.

ok when click on intel 82801AA Bus Master IDE controller which has a settings tab can only change default settings. this can be changed to default, only prim, only sec or neither. when double click on either the prim or sec IDE controllers they do not contain settings tabs in the menu. there is no dma options on any of their other tabs either???

"cannot backup to blank disc from the files already ripped"

Silly question, perhaps, but you do have a DVD BURNER, don't you?

"there is no dma options on any of their other tabs either???"

                            In Win98, Start>>Settings>>Control Panel>>"System">>Device Manager>>CDROM (Yes, CDROM)>>Settings - and then put a checkmark next to "DMA"

haha thankyou. i was sure one of thethreads said to do this in the hard disc controllers. not in the cd rom. as u may hav read in my previous posts could not burn with my burner as when i got to burn menu burn was not highlighted therefore could not press "burn". i will just try to rip again n start from scratch, hopefully it will be faster now anyhow. thanks tho!!!!!
