There was released a new firmware for some days ago for this burner.

The 102C sounds as it's a Dell burner (rebadged Nec).

The latest in that case is: NEC ND-6650A Dell OEM 202c Firmware

You can find it here: http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/index.html

To see your current model and firmware - run this program: http://flashman.rpc1.org/Firmware/DV...are_detect.exe

Do you have a "unzipping" program such as WinZip?

                  Firmware 202c for NEC ND-6650A

                  Hello,

I am wondering if you were able to update your NEC ND-6650A dell burner to the new firmware 202c. What burn speed are you getting? I have Dell Inspiron 6000d.

                  Thanks

How do you go about finding out what firmware you have on your CD/DVD burner combo? It shows NEC 6650a for the DVD burner and want to see if I need to update its firmware. And is it true you can get faster burn speeds after updating? One person said her DVD burner was 8X but went up to 16X after she updated her firmware....

read the bottom of this page, if you can understand it and have
                          a slimline to IDE adapter
then go ahead and flash that laptop drive

I highly reccomend you get an external dvd burner and use it and save your internal for more important things
