Bit of News on Nero 7

Sorry if posted before here is <a href="http://news.softpedia.com/news/Nero-7-to-Be-Released-in-the-Second-Week-of-October-7705.shtml">Link to story</a>

After Nero Reloaded, the Germans behind the best application for burning CDs and DVDs will come in the second week of October with a new version, 7.0, which will not be a simple update, the new application allowing users to burn HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs.

The Nero 7 suite will consist of 18 applications, among which Nero Vision 4 (used to make video DVDs), Media Home, Nero Sound Trax, Nero Wave Editor (audio editor with 7.1 support), Nero Sound
Box, BackitUp, InCD (compatible with the Blu-Ray UDF 2.5 and 2.6) and NeroScout (a tool which allows the creation of databases with song titles). All these features will be available from Nero Start Smart.

The Nero team has also announced during IFA 2005 that certain Nero 7 functions will be integrated with the Windows operating system, which means that probably you will be able burn a CD or a DVD directly from Windows Explorer.

Another novelty is the update module, which will help you to update the program without having to download the entire pack, as it happens now. Nero 7 will also integrate a new video codec, with improved capabilities and a higher compression rate.

Nero 7 will cost approximately 70 Euros and once the commercial version will be launched, the company will also release a demo. For NeroLinux, there is no official release date.

Nero is going to crap on existing users

I "smelled" something up with how Nero has been keeping secret their upgrade policy for long time customers and full, legal version 6 users.

Unlike anything they have done before, they are going to make the version six downloaders, purchase 100% of the license price for verson 7then they will give us a little charity.

After they have banked 100% of the license fee from long time customers like myself, they will offer a stinking 35% mail in rebate. SO if you hassle through all the paperwork, make copies for yourself and mail in the paper work. That is postal mail. For the 40-50 percent that go throuogh that rebate nonsense they get to hold that potential 35% discount for another quarter before sending out, (if the paperwork is 100% perfect), your 35% discount.

I got this information directly from Nero marketing.

          Jon

Give me some advice Blutach.I have Nero Ultra 6.6. I usually use its Burning Rom, Nero Vision Express, Nero Wave Editor & rarely Nero Recode. Is Nero 7 significantly better in these respects?Take my regards.

all i care from nero is recode, and according to what have read, there is no changes on it so i won't even bother "updating" to 7.

IMHO - Nero is just trying to make more money and everyone always thinks just cause a new version comes out it has alot of new features and capabilities. I used to work for AOHell (AOL), one thing I learned was never upgrade to the latest version. Always stay 1 version behind.

yeah they are advertising compatibility with the next-gen formats as one of the new version's great new features. who actually owns any of those drives/media? who is actually going to own one in the next 6 months? not many IMO. its a bit of a scam, but i'm still gonna try it out

kind of like their 'short lead-out' feature in nero 6.6 'reloaded', with the extra 12mb of space. who actually uses it??

People are saying recode is the same but I noticed better compression and I feel I get a better picture quality its not a dramatic change in picture quality and its no DVDRB but I still notice it or it could be that I am just going nuts and seeing things that are not there

this is all they've got to say on their official site (though i think most of the 'features' were already there in nero 6.6), but it very well could be the placebo effect
