    AC3 vs. WAV

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this to, but I was promptly answered here, so I thought I'd just give it a go.

So I've encoded an avi for this first time without .ac3 audio to demux. My question is, since the audio is in .mp3 form, is there a way to strip it and use it with TMPGEnc DVD Author as my audio? Do I need to convert it to ac3 first, should I, or should I just use VirtualDubMod to save the audio as a .wav and leave the track at that? Thanks for any advice.

i myself, don't do any of that. i just encode the avi straight away in TMPGEnc and it (the way i have it set) will produce a single MPEG with .mp2 audio. if you DID choose or NEED for some reason to de-mux the mp3 audio from the avi with virtualdubmod, i use belight to make it wav for TMPGEnc to use for encoding first. but this should be totally uneeded.
