    Flask Settings

    Hi,

I'm trying to use FLASKMPG Ver.594 to create a DIVX and I can't seem to find the right codecs to get a 2 hr movie to fit on 1 CD.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Try selecting the DivX (v.3.11) FastMotion codec at its default settings (910Kbps, keyframe every 10 seconds)...

I'm still having some difficulty choosing the proper settings to get a movie to fit on one CD.

For a DIVX, Flask gives me the choice between two codecs. A DIVX MPEG4 Alpha Codec or just a Divx Mpeg4 Codec. If I choose the Alpha codec then the movie is more compressed (although Flask takes longer). For the audio codec I usually choose an MPEG3 192KB/S but the movie turns out at over a gig. The frame size defaults to 352X288 but that seems rather low quality. I want to up the pixels but still have an under 700MB movie.

The other audio choices I have are PCM and Windows Media Audio V1 and V2, but if I choose any of those the movie crashes when I try to play it in Windows Media Player.

If I download some more codecs will I have a greater variety of choice? Which ones should I download?

        Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no way, using the DivX v.3.11 alpha codec at Fast Motion 910Kbps and MP3 audio at 192Kbps, that a two hour video will approach 1Gig in size.

Set the audio to 44,100Hz (rather than 48,000) and MAKE CERTAIN that you've actually selected .MP3 rather than Uncompressed PCM (WAV) format.

Ok, I chose the DIVX codec...but I am not sure whether it is the "DivX v.3.11 alpha codec at Fast Motion". All I can see in the video codec list that has the word DIVX in it is:

DIVX Mpeg-4 Codec Alpha 4. (it gets cutoff and I can't see anymore)
            or

            DIVX MPEG-4 Video Codec.

THere is a whole list of other Video Codecs to choose from, but none with the word DIVX in it.

I followed the rest of your advice, by setting the video at 910 kbps and chose MP3 audio at 192 kbps and sampling frequency of 44,100 hz. The movie turned out at 957MB and took 20 hours to create.

Any other suggestions? I really want to get this to work.

            Thanks,
            Aaron
