Low volume when playing burnt DVD-R's

    Hello,

Whenever I play a movie that I've backed up onto a DVD-R in Media Player or Real Player, even Nero Showtime, the sound is very low at maximum level. The only program where the sound is at a decent level is in the viewing window of DVD Shrink, but this has limited adjustment setting.

Also, when i play music from WMP or RP, the volume level is fine. Any ideas what this could be ?

Please try Media Player Classic. If the problem persists, make sure to go to View > Options > Audio Switcher and check for Regain Volume and Normalize

Media Player Classic is an extremely light-weight media player for Windows. It looks just like the good-old Media Player v6.4, but has lots of nice extra features.

      Thanks

Thanks, that seemed to work. Do i need to uninstall the other WMP to avoid conflicts ? I noticed that the WMP Classic seems to freeze up quite a bit, and the buttons sometimes do different things from what they indicate, e.g. the skip forward button pauses the DVD and doesn't skip it forward.

      cheers

No, I don't think necessarily to do so. I never let any media player to be default player in the system. That way, you can decide to use any player to play what you want

I haven't had any problem like that with my three PCs and they all work correctly. Please try with different DVDs to see if the problem disappears

Another one to check, right click the volume icon on your tray and check the level of your "playback control volume". I find this sometimes takes precedent(master) over players local volume controls depending on your soundcard.
