Does GPU have any influence on TMPGEnc v3 performance?

I'm running a C2D E6600 / Radeon X1300 (128Mb RAM) setup. If I upgrade the GPU to something faster with 256 or 512Mb RAM, will it make any difference to the TMPG's performance? Thanks!

Probably not much difference at all, unless you are multitasking and the cpu cores have to work a little harder helping the graphics

even the hypermemory model with a gig or more of system ram shouldn't
    slow down video encoding

Not at all. Faster CPU, and to a lesser extent, faster/more RAM will.

What's the "sweet spot" amount of RAM for TMPGEnc v3. Is 1GB sufficient or I'll need 2GB (XP Pro OS)? Thanks!

Newer games and heavy multitasking with dual core are probably the operations which might use that second gig.

With XP, 1GB is enough, unless you're into gaming, as Chewy said. With Vista, 2GB is recommended. But the more/faster, the better.

(Time for a Linux plug) Running Thunderbird, Firefox with 8 or so tabs, also running XP (the entire OS) with VMware, which is running Photoshop CS2. Also running a 3D desktop (Compiz). See screenshot
