Help files for TMPGEnc 4.7.3.292

Hey guys:

I would like to learn how to use this program. I understand the basics of it because I have been using Tmpgenc 2.5 for a few years now. I am usually converting 23, 25, and 29fpm avi's. I have come across an avi that's 24fpm and I'm not sure how to handle it with Tmpgenc 2.5 so I thought I would try this newer version out.

With TMPGEnc Plus if I had to change the framerate, I set it to keep the framerate the same, and output separate video and audio files(which is the default iirc.) Then just use DGPulldown to adjust the framerate of the video file. Usually I would then author with DVDAuthorGui, since it accepts separate video and audio files.

DGPulldown is a good idea anyway because it usually avoids audio sync issues caused by changing the framerate. A lot of the avi to dvd converters are using pulldown automatically now for that reason.

I use DgPulldown all the time. It's great!!! With TMPGEnc 2.5 I usually have to tell it what the frame rate is, but, it doesn't offer the frame rate of 24. It does offer 23.9...whatever it is for USA NTSC, but that's different then 24fps. The later version, TMPGEnc 4.7.3.292 offers the 24fps which is cool but I never dealt with trying to convert 24fps. Are there any help threads for TMPGEnc 4.7.3.292??? I don't mind reading through them, I love this stuff.

I see what you were talking about now. What type of file do you use for your source? The only one I have ever used is the m2v file.

I know how to create an m2v in T2.5...but I don't know how to create one in T4.7.3.292?? How can I do that?

Sorry. The TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus is the latest I've owned of that product line. Since then I've been using free encoders almost exclusively. When I bought TMPGEnc Plus there weren't that many choices out there. Maybe someone else has experience and can help you out.

Are you talking about TMPGEnc Express ? If you are, then this can be done in TE. In the output format select MPEG file output.There,under output stream type,select ES(video only).

Yes I am referring to TMPGEnc Xpress. So when I have a 25fps avi, this is what I should do to create the m2v? And then run it through the DGPulldown? That seems to be correct to me, or is there a better way?
