MPAA Hands Over List of "Bad" Websites and Regions

The MPAA has handed over to the Office of the US Trade Representative a letter that indicates which websites, and which "notorious markets" exists in relation to motion picture copyright abuse.

The list contains BitTorrent trackers, newsgroups, and even one video-on-demand/linking website. RapidShare is also listed, along with other cyber-locker websites.

Amongst the countries listed, the ones in which these "bad" websites are operating out of, includes Sweden (which is listed three times), Canada (for the IsoHunt connection), Netherlands, Russia (listed twice), Mexico, Ukraine, Korea and Germany and many many other countries.

The MPAA has tried to pain a gloomy picture of the piracy problem, even though they have recorded record profits every year since 2005 and ticket sales are actually up 30% this year.

The RIAA, not to be outdone by the MPAA, have written their own letter listing of "bad" websites, and have further stretched the definition of what constitutes piracy by listing search engines such as China's Baidu (China's own Google equivalent), and VKontakte (Russia's own Facebook equivalent).

It's only a matter of time before the likes of the MPAA/RIAA simply identifies "The Internet" as their list of "bad" things, what with the way neither of them are willing to embrace change and innovation.
