ImgBurn Filter Drive Load Order, not recognizing drive

I am brand new and this is my first post, I have tried to read and figure out what is wrong but I am not very computer savvy. The problem is that ImgBurn and for that matter Shrink & Decryptor will not recognize my drive. Additionally it is not in "my computer." I have read some other posts that indicate there could be an issue with the filters, but I have no idea what that really means. This is the info in the ImgBurn Log. I am also posting the Filter Drive Load Order info below the Log info, just because I read that as a problem for another member.

I know this is not a lot of info to go with so please let me know what other info will be valuable in diagnosing this issue.

Please do not mention "Shrink" or "Decrypter". See rule 19.

This is clearly not an ImgBurn issue - obviously, your drive isn't being recognised by your PC. Anything new installed lately? Try to uninstall the drive and reinstall it.

I apologize, Nothing new that I can think of as far as installations other than the normal updates that Vista would do.

To uninstall do I go to the Device Manager and then the disk drives section?

Sorry for the rookie questions!!!

Also, is there a more appropriate location on the forum for this question that I can be directed to?

Yes, uninstall via the device manager. How old is your drive?

I bought this HP pavillion dv6770se in March of 08 but didn't start using the drive regularly until last December. It says SAMSUNG HM250JI ATA Device under device manager disk drives. Here is where I uninstall, correct?

Uninstalled with no avail...Not really sure what I am up against.

Maybe the drive has gone west - or the cable attaching it is not plugged in properly. Try installing the drive on another IDE cable. Or in another PC. If that doesn't work, it is probably buggered.

Blu, this drive is in a laptop so no changing wires or connections.

Eddie, do you happen to have a link to that sticky. I appreciate your help, but have to be honest, what you said didn't make a lot of sense to me. I fly planes for a living with lots of computer stuff, but I don't know much about how they work, so if you could dumb it down for me it would help out.

it seems that part of the issue I am having is that there are no filters being displayed, I don't know what that means though.

AFAIK, the fact there are no filters shown in VISTA is normal. Your problem is your drive.

So no ripping products in this forum I am sorry, does that apply to the entire forum or just this sub section, just trying to do things right.

So at this point I am looking at getting a new drive, correct. The drive works for playback of DVD's until it encounters a problem with trying to backup some of my other DVD's, then it becomes unavailable and not visible in "my computer." After a restart it is there again, and can get through certain portions of backing up some of my DVD's, so I am not totally convinced it is the drive vice another issue, but I really don't know enough about these things.

But your thread should have nothing to do with ripping - it's just that there is a serial offender who is determined to disobey the rules and keep on mentioning certains sites and their products. That person has now been banned.

I suspect the drive is no good - otherwise the slot on the motherboard has "gone cold".
