    Firefox

Well I have used IE6 exclusively for a long time, but the web has gotten a lot more dangerous lately

Choose from Desktop, iOS, Android, or let us email you a mobile download link.

    and use this addon

Download NoScript Security Suite for Firefox. The best security you can get in a web browser! Allow potentially malicious web content to run only from sites you trust. Protect yourself against XSS other web security exploits.

according to a study google did this last year, one in ten web pages worldwide is infected with malware that will install on your computer with a simple driveby(just opening the web page)

Chewy, you also need to get Adblock for the best protection when combined with No script

Or you could choose AdBlock Plus.

@ Chewy - if it's good enough for you then I'm going to use it too. Thanks for the heads up!

I find with adblock that a lot of this cr*p never gets loaded but I just recently went to NoScript. It is a pain to configure at first BUT worth the time and effort. A lot of the crap that is install is in the pop-ups I figure. I have been scanning weekly now and have only had one suspicious file (from a game I downloaded from giveaway of the day) I deleted the game and the alert went away. (It was some sort of activity monitor... It could have even been part of the game)

But 1 in 10??? It must be with an unprotected computer then. I figure with anti-virus, firewall, and multiple scanning programs, I have been lucky with what I have gotten!

I'd pass on chatzilla too...it's just a quick and easy standby for those who can't be bothered with the real deal.

Google said that it had analysed approximately 4.5 million websites over a 12 month period and found that 450,000 had caused a test computer to make a ‘drive-by download’, a common example of which was a ‘keylogger’, which captures every keystroke a user makes.

But how do you know what scripts to allow and deny ? That's the main reason why I don't use it

AFAIK it blocks scripts for all sites except those you specify.

I love that feature, no way I would prefer firefox over IE and having to change without that extra safety, it's a PITA at first till you get used to it.
I allow what minimal scripts I need for regular sites and when I inadvertly go where the danger is higher, I am protected from maliscous programming.

Some sites have up to 5 scripts trying to run when you go there, just seeing what's up is enough to make me say "so long" and "no thanks".

Oh OK I see now I thought I had to decide what to allow every time the bar at the bottom popped up.I also stopped that from showing as well
                          Thanks .

I can't believe how many different scripts will come up on just one page. My son goes to those gaming sites for cheat codes and the list is in the double digits!
