I am VERY new at this so sorry if I sound dumb here. I am trying to create backups of my DVDs in the same format so I can play them in a DVD player. The process I used was DVD Shrink ---> PageEdit ---> ImgBurn. When I finally finished the burn, it plays on my CPU but not on my DVD player. What else do I need to add to the process or do i need to change something?? Thanks for the help
Format in Imageburn

I know that I am burning on Memorex Double layer DVD+R disks. I didnt realize that I could use the single layers, so I have a few doubles that I am burning on to to begin. My burner is an LG internal 16x super multi with lightscribe. I think the model number is GSA-4166B. Says it writes to all DVD formats compatible (DVD +-R, +-RW, DVD-RAM). Maybe my DVD player just doesnt play this format?? Is there a way to choose which format I want to use since the player does support DVD -R?Comment

The LG is capable of booktyping your discs...I would save those DL disc until you get the hang of burning (expensive coasters), in the mean time go and get either some -R SL discs and try burning them...or try some +R SL discs and booktype them with Imgburn.
At any rate, with DL discs don't use DVD Shrink...you will only make coasters. DVD Shrink is really good at compressing your movies to fit onto a SL disc so you will want to continue to use it for your SL backups.
Stay away from Memorex blanks...try some Verbatims or Sony, Maxell, Fuji made in Japan.

Also check your local stores for Sony disc made in Japan as they are good disc too. The on line store supermediastore has a good selection of disc. Just look around and find the best price on the disc and the best quality of disc (per Blutach's and mine suggestions) and then stock up on as many as you can afford or need at the time.
I use my DL disc to back up the very few movies that I want to keep everything on the original, with the same quality as the original. This will be something that you will figure out the more you burn and read post from this site, as it is a matter of preference.Comment
