problems making dvds viewable on others machines

I am experiencing problems with the dvds that I edit and send to my clients, I am not aware of doing anything differently. I am however relatively new to editing within different programs. If there is anyone that might have time please and thank you.

same media? what burn speed? what software? do they not read, or just skip and freeze?
