    Blu-ray Prices Purposely Kept High

Pioneer North America CEO Masao Kawabata argued against discounting prices now to build volume:

We are not interested in just moving a lot of BD players or HDTVs, but would rather educate consumers on the value of owning high-performance and high-value products and creating demand that way.

Pioneers’s CEO will be the next one whining to the US government for a financial bailout, while he pilfers millions of dollars out of the company for his own personal gluttony.
Screw blu-ray, my old DVD still works just fine!

That is just pure greed, to bad that HD was killed. That would have stopped the Blu-Ray monopoly that is now currently enjoyed by Blu-Ray. So that the Blu-Ray movies do not have to be discounted. The companies are thinking more profit, but this will not happen sales will start to fall.
