Evidently as a result of the confusion, employees at retailers all over the country were scratching their heads and ended up breaking the release date on the DVD version.
Disney attempted to give Blu-ray a boost by releasing Bolt on Blu-ray two days earlier than on DVD. This caused confusion as people went there trying to buy the DVD version when they heard it was released already.
Bolt did fairly poorly in Blu-ray sales, coming only at 10th, and only having 13% market share despite being released earlier than the DVD version (typical new release is around 18%).
