Wide Screen Lenses

I bought a wide screen lens that is Macro. I'm not happy with it. The reason why is because not only does it show more at the left and right, it shows more at the top and bottom. All it's doing is making things further away so that more can be fitted on the screen. I'd rather have a wide screen lens that only shows more at the left and right where things don't look further away. With the wide screen lens that I have, if I zoom in to get things closer again I lose part of the left and right and the top and bottom and it makes that wide screen lens pointless to have.

I prefer to have a wide screen lens where I can film with more on the left and right and everything remains just as close.

Is there another type of wide screen lens for a camcorder that I prefer to have?

I always wonder why a wide screen lens still hasn't been made for camcorders so that we can film in a bigger screen that is the 2:35 that films are made in like the Die Hard films were made in.

This may help from a photo perspective but can apply to film...
A wide Angle Lens main features:
1.stretching the perspective between near & far
2.making the object that is closer to the lens look much bigger (in relation to all other objects)
3.allows you to fit a lot of things into the image, lens require to get close.
4.Depth of Field is bigger (all items sharp focus- opposite of a focus pull where one subject is sharp & all else out of focus).
The distance between objects has extended & the proportion of objects dramatically increases, so the one that is close to the camera looks enormous, but those, which are father away almost disappear in the distance.
Use these features when you frame a shot. If putting on the WAL just makes things small & tempted to zoom- then move into the frame with feet & maybe compose at different angle-say low to ground or off center next to an object.
For example- kid blowing a bubble of gum or eating cotton candy at a carnival. If you are several feet away with a reg lens - zoom in on the bubble or sloppy mouth of blue rasberry sugar drizal. If a Wide angle, move in close with feet & maybe make off center so the bubble or cotton candy blossoming out of the paper holder becomes larger than life with a sharp background of the carnival in background. That will show the fun & excitement more dramaticaly then the zoom. In photos we crop out the other stuff. Can you mask of the frame with a straight edge on top & bottom of lense to create your perspective? sure.
