Seagate and Paramount are working together to bring movies to consumers in a new way.
Seagate's FreeAgent Go portable hard-drives now come pre-loaded with a selection of 20 movies from Paramount. These are DRM'd movies and while the drive comes with a voucher code to unlock the new Star Trek movie, the other movies are not free and must be purchased to unscramble the files. The films can be viewed using Seagate's FreeAgent Theater+ HD.
But as CrunchGear blogger Matt Burns found, the process of purchasing the movie is clunky at best, and portability will always be an issue when DRM is used.
