Sony, Warner, Disney are planning a new streaming service that aims to bring movies faster to people's homes. For $20 to $30, movie lovers will be able to watch movies that have just recently ended their theatrical run at home, months before the movie hits DVD or Blu-ray. The movies will be available via cable and games consoles, such as the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The promise to stream these movies, no doubt infused with heavy DRM, comes after the FCC sided with Hollywood and allowed more layers of DRM so that these early releases can be "protected".
But at up to $30 a pop, there may not be many takers on Hollywood's latest offer.
