Microsoft's Kinect motion gaming add-on has seen incredible sales during the first 25 days of sales, and with a couple of more weeks left this year, it is seen as one of the must-have items of this holiday shopping period.
With 2.5 million units sold worldwide in the first 25 days, Microsoft were extremely pleased with the numbers. Microsoft expect 5 million Kinect add-ons to be sold before the end of the year, that's nearly half of the *yearly* Xbox 360 console sales figure.
Black Friday sales in the US say 600,000 Wii's being sold, but Kinect shipped by more than 1 million units in the same time period. Kinect is seen as a serious competitor to Nintendo's Wii, which has until recently, dominated sales charts and the motion/casual gaming market.
A recent Nielsen poll found that 14% of US children (aged 6 to 12) wanted Kinect in the next 6 month.
