Info on new computer

i work from home, i am an mt, anyway i have been using this macine to also do my dvd's. i am getting a little nervous with that so i was thinking of either a laptop to burn or a new cpu to move my actual work to. i have heard that a laptop burns slow and since all the new systems have vista and i did not want to deal with trying it out with burning, thought it would be easier to move my pc anywhere to a new desktop. anyway any input would be greatly appreciated.
