Toshiba has announced the first notebook PC in the US to feature an HD-DVD-R optical drive with full 1080p playback. The Qosimo G45-AV860 is a cutting edge audio and video notebook computer that also includes a 17in widescreen HD display and Dolby surround sound technology.
1080p on a 17" won't be the sharpest display (amazed they managed to fit so many pixels into the smallish panel). It has a HDMI output, so could double as a (somewhat expensive) set-top HD DVD player.
It's on sale (pre-order for July 26 release) at Amazon for $2,899.99 (after $200 rebate).
