Last week, we noticed an interesting conversation over at AVS Forum titled "Your Blu-ray replacement strategy," where users commented on how they decide which of their DVDs to replace with Blu-ray Discs. It's a fair point to discuss, because while most people didn't hesitate to re-buy their VHS tapes on DVD, many would argue that the gap between DVD and Blu-ray is smaller and it's only worth replacing certain titles.
My strategy:
* Not rebuying anything I already own on DVD unless:
- It's a movie that I re-watch a lot
- The Blu-ray version offer more features
- Or if the original DVD version wasn't up to scratch
* New releases
- Only buying movies on Blu-ray with great reviews (eg. The Dark Knight, Wall-E)
- And only if the price is right (around $AUD 25, whether it's due to a sale or buying from the US - new release DVDs here are priced at around $AUD 30)
- Otherwise still buying the cheap DVD version after 3 months of release (around $AUD 15)
