Redbox was recently forced to delay the release of new titles by Fox, Warner and Universal for 28 days and to cease the use of cover art due to copyright concerns. To overcome the problems, Redbox purchased titles directly from normal retail channels and then substituted the covers with alternate ones.
The plans seems to be working for now, with embargoed new releases like The Hangover and Inglorious Basterds found at a majority of kiosks, although availability of non embargoed titles from Disney, Sony, Paramount and others were at a much higher rate.
