Sega Thinks Xbox 360 Natal Will Bring "Brilliant Innovations"

Despite being mocked by Sony, some non partisan members of the gaming industry still believes in the Xbox 360 Natal's controller-less design.

In an interview with gaming magazine CVG, Michael Hayes, the president of Sega West, made some predictions in regards to Project Natal. “My guess is that in the next two years plus, you will see some brilliant innovations [with Natal]," Hayes said to the magazine.

Sega is committed to both the PS3 motion controller, the PlayStation Move, and Natal, and plans to bring out several games for both systems "from around the end of this year and into 2011."

The PlayStation Move controller features a similar design to the Nintendo Wii controller, with fewer buttons and being lighter. Using the PS3 EyeToy and a glowing strobe on the controller, the Move controller is able to move in 3D with greater accuracy than both the original Wii controller and Wii MotionPlus. The EyeToy is also able to provide basic facial recognition, although it's largely independent of the hardware/software development of the PlayStation Move.

Project Natal for the Xbox 360 will forgo controls of any kind, and rely on a camera hardware with special software that maps the human body, along with voice, facial, and gesture recognition all in the same device.
