Why can't I use full capacity of DVD?
Hi,
I am having problems burning a file onto DVD-R/DVD-RW as follows:-
The file is a V2i file created with PowerQuest DriveImage & is approx. 4.30 GB in size.
When I add this file to my current project in Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD, according to the bar graph, it does fit comfortably inside the 4.37 GB reported as being available on the blank, unformatted disc.
The burn process appears to be completed successfully, with no error messages.
However, when I check the disc, the file that appears is only some 300 Mb in size & will not open. The disc is now reported as being full!
I then tried to burn this same file by "dragging & dropping" into a UDF-formatted disc - this time, I got an error message saying that the file was too big & the process was halted.
I then tried burning this file direct to disc using DriveImage. Late in the process I was prompted to insert a second disc, as the first one was now full. Inspection of the first disc showed that the file size of the data so far burned was only 4.01 GB.
Why can't I use the full 4.37 GB supposedly available?
Media used was Verbatim 4x DVD-R & 2x DVD-RW.
Writer is a Sony DW-U14A with latest firmware.
Any ideas, anyone, please?
