VirtualDub: Select audio source in video capture?

I want to make a DivX .avi file from a VHS tape that I have with VirtualDub. The only problem is, it captures the audio from my webcam's built in mic which is really crappy because it is the sound coming from the computer speakers and travelling in open air to the crappy mic in the webcam.

I want to be able to capture the audio direct off the line-in or mic jack going into my sound card but I don't see any option in VirtualDub to select the audio source. Why is it defaulting to my webcam's built-in mic anyway? The capture software that came with my ATI A.I.W. video card allows me to select the audio source properly (such as line-in or mic jack) and it makes good recordings and I would use that for this project except that it doesn't allow me to select the audio and video codecs. It just has several preset MPEG and MPEG-2 options along with some preset audio bitrate options.
