I know -- I know -- "read the boxes, review the websites, ask the manufacturers/producers, do the research like you did with the older dedicated region free units" before asking such a question. Foreign countries sometimes DO produce things that I am searching for directly -- but are NOT easy to find!

) if anyone else has encountered this situation and already complied a listing of quick and examined off the shelf DVD products and found "such and such works well reading and playing back both P.A.L. and NTSC/VHS formats" while "such and such really needs to be ripped from every PC ever made! It can't even recognize the #@!$ disk!"
