    Computer Stopped Playing DVDs

My computer has all of a sudden stopped playing DVDs. Yesterday evening, after power returned to my house, I watched a full length DVD on my computer and left it in the drive. Between then and when i woke up, power went out and came back again. This evening, I put a DVD into the drive, and PowerDVD tells me that it is an "unknown file format." My initial reaction was that it was the wrong region, but I put the DVD I had watched the previous evening back into the computer and it gave the same message. The Interactual Player completely refused to start, and DVD player, which came with my computer, plays the first few "titles" or so (i.e. the warning label and the Universal logo) and then stops playing the DVD. Is my drive dead, or is there something I can do to make DVD's work again? I'm running a P3 500 with a GeForce 3 Ti and 320 mb ram. Thanks!
