S.A. DVD-player > TV via SCART or RCA Composite ?

I have bought my first stand-alone DVD-player;
Daewoo DQD-6100D for $50.

Its' audio output I'm going to send to my old stereo,
as I have no surround audio setup yet.

But the video output is what I'm wondering about.

As this unit was bought in Europe, it has 3 video outputs:

1. A SCART / Euro / Peritel connector
2. An S-Video output connector
3. A RCA yellow "phono-plug" composite video output connector


My TV has 2 video input connectors:

1. A SCART / Euro / Peritel connector
2. A A RCA yellow "phono-plug" composite video input connector


I have read about the SCART connector at

- and since it says that a SCART can transmit both

1. RGB video signals
2. S-Video signals
3. Composite video signals

..I wonder which of those my DVD-player are capable of sending,
and also which of those my $250 Hitachi 21" TV are capable of receiving.

That is - should I

1. Use the composite video cable that came with the DVD-player
- or
2. Buy a SCART-to-SCART cable, and hope that it's not just a waste of money
- because it still would only be transmitted composite video signals through it?

How high-end, how expensive must ones' equipment be, for it to
utilize S-Video / RGB video signals ?
