News on LASER WAVE 2 (O.D.C)

Optical Disc Corporation (ODC) has announced the introduction of LaserWave II, the company's new laser beam recording (LBR) system. LaserWave II is the only mastering system available on the market today that is capable of producing the highest quality DVD masters as well as meeting the high-density requirements for formats such as HD-DVD.

LaserWave II supports the following formats: CD, DVD, DVD+/-R, HD-DVD, and other future formats in development now. LaserWave II allows the customer to select a model with a single format configuration or to have multiple formats in a switchable model. With LaserWave II you can purchase the capability for only the format(s) required today and then evolve to upcoming high density formats without having to purchase a whole new laser beam recorder in the future for high-density formats.

LaserWave II combines significant advancements in LaserWave hardware and in ODC's latest breakthrough in recording media, High Resolution Dye Polymer. This combination has allowed ODC to produce a mastering system so advanced and high density capable that they have had to aperture down the optics in order to make pits large enough for the current DVD format.

LaserWave II also incorporates ODC's patented wave shaping technology called TrueYield. TrueYield creates custom waveforms during mastering to precisely control the depth and effective length deviation of recorded pits. This precision mastering results in optimum signal fidelity on finished discs. With LaserWave II you can program and recall over a hundred individual finely tuned optimized settings on a individual job basis. LaserWave II will begin shipping in April 2004, with orders now being taken. To learn more about the LaserWave II contact your nearest ODC Regional Sales Office.
