my dvd rom doesnt read dvds

i ve have problem with my pioneer dvd rom because i cant watch some dvds with same region (2) my problem is a bit strange ;dvd rom plays which hos got a & b sides i mean ,some dvd s are one sided i can never watch that kind . ejects the dvd as if they are empty i tried to upgrade the firmware nothing changed !!!
