low sound on playback

hello everybody,

I have a toshiba sdk600 dvd player. I've been trying to play a couple of dvd's and in the last week the sound is extremely low! this only started happening about a week ago!
I had an old movie and I put it in just to see if it just had problems with some new format, but sure enough, same thing!

what could of happened "all of a sudden"?

I tried different audio formats on the dvd player, but nothing.
I checked connections, but all of them were fine.

I'm goin nuts.
should I just get another one?
