i have installed two differant dvd rom drives and i still can't play some dvd-r. sometimes it won't recognize the disc at all and other time it says the disc are either corrupt or it has an unsupported file format. the two drives i installed in my system were aopen 1640 pro-a and a pioneer 104s. my system rundown is : asus bf6 motherboard
400 mhz celeran
256 mb ram
ati 8 mb agp card
memorex cdrw crw-1622
windows xp professional (fat32)
windows me(fat32)
i tried installing the dvd drive in the primary and seconday master ide slots with dma enabled and it still does not worki also tried removing the cdrw drive altogether and it still does not work. i tried both operating systems and it does play dvd's fine but only some dvd-r. does it make a differance how many chapters are on the dvd-r movies? could the authering program and/or the quality of the dvd-r make a differance. the pioneer 104s that i have installed now was installed in another system and it played all dvd-r (the system it was in was used to rip and burn dvd movies).
