Converting VOB To MPG2 To Edit In Dazzle MovieStar

I'm a newbie who could really use an assist.

I am using Dazzle DVCII to capture Analog Video Tape to MPG2 files. I am successfully editing these files with the MovieStar Editor.

I would like to create MPG2 files (sound and video) from non-encrypted VOB files so that I can edit these with MovieStar.

Renaming the VOB files to an MPG extension allows me to import the files, play them, and edit them (sound and video), but MovieStar always errors when trying to render the finished product.

From this I conclude that a VOB is not exactly an MPG2, but pretty close.

Is there a simple VOB to "true" MPG2 converter I can use to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.
