DV Cam Time Code Display

Hi guys & gals. I have a rented DV Cam for presentation purposes. The model is the Sony Digital Videocassette Compact Player, J-H3. The Time code is displayed at the bottom centre. It is the unit and not the tape as it is displayed even when the tape is not running. I am plugged into the proper or Component jack. My question is, can anyone tell me how to get rid of the time code display so it is not seen on screen?
