can't seem to get rid of macrovision!

hello to all of you, i am trying to backup my dvds but i am having an annoying problem: i decode the VOB files with smartripper (demacrovision it) then i use a small program called demacrovision to make sure that the macrovision is out. tells me it is! once i encode the dvd with virtuadub and try to play it with window Media player using my laptop's tv out, the image shows up for 2 or 3 secondes and then go black. what's up with that?! do i have to use another AVI player or is it a hardware lock? is there any ways i can play ripped dvds on my TV?
i am having another porblem with audio, but i am not sure it's the right forum, will give it a try anyways: i encode the wav file that i get with dvd2avi using cool edit 2000. i encode it with Microsoft ADPCM and get a wav file like 4 times smaller! awsome right? but when i encode the AVI file, the sound is not synchro! i tried everything but can't seem to find a way to sunchronize it. is there any software that can give me the solution?
ok ive better stop my questions, if anyone can help, please do so.
    happy thanksgiving all....
