It is still the same problem :
i have a Sony MiniDV camera that outputs .AVI video over the firewire interface.
The .avi is about 14 GB / hour and the
format is called
DVSD -
it is some kind of Sony-specific hardware compression.
These avi files can be played back in mediaplayer.
Bun i cannot convert them because i have no DVSD codec.
From what i have heard, the few that are available, are not free.
A thing i don't understand because after all i bought the camera!
As the output format is in relatively high quality,
i desperately look for a good DVSD codec (decode only)
so that i can open my video streames in
VirtualDUB (or similar)
and then convert them to DivX.
