What is the latest codec?

howdi all, any idea what us the latest codec package, coz ive installed Nimo's Codec Package, and for the first time in 160 movies ive had a problem viewing a movies, i just got Time Machine and it wont play under windows media player due to not having the right codec but it will play in Kazza, howz that possib;le? anyone any idea, coz ive been able to watch everythin g in windows media player b4.
