Problem with colors

Hi all,
I'm a new VirtualDub user. I have opened an flv file in order to cut some of it. When I save my new sequence as AVI file the colours change. e.g. a yellow door turned blue!
I tried the video cube test and it's clear: dark blue in the original video turned pink and vice versa.
FYI, I read video files with VLC Media Player.

I know this is a monologue but I've found out what was wrong so I might as well share...
Ctrl + P then select ffdshow video codec press OK then F7 and that's it, my file got converted!
