hi. found this forum via google. name's fist. on to the problem i have, i was hoping someone here may be able to help me with:
pretext: i have been trying to convert various avi files (feature length movie dvd rips) to the divx codec so i can play them on my ps3, which, i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) requires me to use that format. fast recompress is what i was told to use for video.
some info i read informed me that i should convert the audio to mpeg layer-3 and video to the version of divx codec i use, which says "divx 6.8.2 codec (2 logical cpus)", whatever that means. a direct stream copy is what i'm doing, also.
the problem: somewhere after some unspecified length of time through one or two different avi files (not all of them have this issue) the sound will cut out completely.
is this common? is this an issue with the audio in the file perhaps being somehow corrupted and when i convert it to another format it just decides it doesn't want to work? is there a common solution to this problem i can try so i can get audio with my files when i convert them?
