    Divx w/ AC3, many many issues....

    Heya,

    I have been working recently on making Divx movies with AC3 audio....

    .....I do this by using FlaskMPEG (newest version) and a special AC3 version of VirutalDub. I use XMPEG4.5 to extract the AC3 audio since it has the function to extract AC3 audio without working on the video. Someone told me that if you extract the AC3 while encoding the video there will be sync problems.

    So, this is what I use and how I do it.....
    ....the results are completely random....
    ...sometimes I manage to do it fine.....other times I can't get it for the life of me..
    I can't find any rhym or reason.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!!

    John

    Nonsense.Feel free to use Flask to concurrently convert the video and extract the .AC3 audiostream...

      Alot of people recommend dvd2avi to extract the ac3 files. Its good to do this first to see the size and ms skew of the ac3 file then you know exactly what size to create the video file to when you use flask, depending on whether you want the movie to be 700 or 1400meg.
      Flask worked for me extracting the ac3 file on the first pass then choose 'no audio' option for the second pass. The challenge is getting the sync right when you interleave it together using Virtual Dub Mod. Have Fun.

        Perhaps this will make things less challenging:
        448kbps (6 ch) -> Preload: 128ms, Interleave: 128ms
        384kbps (6 ch) -> Preload: 160ms, Interleave: 160ms
        256kbps (2 ch) -> Preload: 48ms , Interleave: 48ms
        224kbps (2 ch) -> Preload: 64ms , Interleave: 64ms
        192kbps (2 ch) -> Preload: 80ms , Interleave: 80ms
