    .avi.divx to .avi

I have an episode of That '70s Show and it's extension is .avi.divx . It works fine in the Playa but not in WMP. I tried deleting the .divx and when I did any program using in including explorer.exe woud go to 100% cpu usage. If I tried to delete or rename the file it would always tell me the file is in use even if I tried to delete it in safe mode. I found a program that lets you move or delete or rename files during a reboot and it worked in letting me rename it back to a .avi.divx. Is there any way I can reencode the file to be just a .avi and work in WMP?? Thanks...

    1) Load the video file into VirtualDub or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

This file requires the DivX v.3.11alpha codec - installation of which automatically includes the required DivX audio codec hack.

Once you've downloaded and installed the codec(s), reboot your system. Then rename the file to a.avi...
