Overlay Surface Not Available

I am getting this error message while using XMPEG. I have a geforce 2 GTS which I m sure supports overlay surfaces, but it says it is not available, i have the latest detanator drivers, direct x etc. I tried closing all other programs and restarting but these didn't work either.
Anybody have any ideas?

Are you trying to display the video while converting? If so, try lowering your screen resolution and/or the color depth of your desktop.

i saw you stated you HAD the latest directx, but did you REINSTALL it, too???

install it after vga drivers.

I believe that you mean that it displays this message to you before converting the movie (when you select other format than RGB for example YUY12).
If THIS is the problem you are talking about just ignore it.Continue converting your movie.
It will play without any problem.

It does the same thing to me.
But I ignore it.
And everything works ok.

I think it is a problem with xmpeg and not with your video card.

Thanks For The Help. One Two Other thing i have noticed thats infuriating me. I should probebly put these in other threads

Whenever i choose MP3 encoding and choose a bitrate, XMPEG or FLASK crash after the plugin selection.

When i choose 2 pass first pass encoding all i get is a green screen. (Is this because for testing i only encode the first minute to see how it looks and the file needs to be complete?).

netmeeting?

i have had aome messages about overlay in windvd, and when i turned of netmeeting that does take up som e of the graphic functions it worked fine som if you have netmeetin on try turning it off
